Gombe State pledges support for new Nigerian Army formations

The Gombe State Government has pledged its support for the rapid operationalization of new Nigerian Army formations within the state. Following approval from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the military is expanding its structure from eight to 12 divisions.

The new military presence includes the establishment of the 27 Armoured Brigade, with its headquarters and garrison proposed for Gombe town. Additionally, the 271 Tank Battalion will be located in Bajoga and the 272 Tank Battalion in Kaltungo.

State officials stated that these formations are critical for strengthening national security, enhancing rapid response to emerging threats, and supporting counter-insurgency operations across Gombe and the wider North-East region. Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya assured the military that his administration will utilize all available resources to facilitate the commencement of these units to help maintain peace and protect lives and property.
