Gombe State Police prosecute 167 traffic offenders

The Gombe State Police Command has prosecuted 167 motorists and road users for various traffic offenses during a recent enforcement initiative known as ‘Operation Velvet’. The operation, which took place between August 24 and August 27, 2026, was supervised by Commissioner of Police Umar Chuso.

To ensure the rapid processing of offenders, the Command established three mobile courts at the Rainbow Roundabout, Gombe Emir’s Palace, and Liji Roundabout. The enforcement focused on ensuring compliance with traffic laws and regulations to enhance public order and safety across the Gombe metropolis.

Commissioner Chuso emphasized the Command’s commitment to maintaining safety for all road users and urged motorists, tricycle operators, and motorcyclists to ensure their vehicles possess all required documentation. Authorities also advised the public to cooperate with enforcement officers and report suspicious activities.
