AC Milan signs Portuguese striker Gonçalo Ramos for club‑record fee

Italian club AC Milan completed the acquisition of Portuguese forward Gonçalo Ramos from Paris Saint‑Germain for a reported total of around €70‑80 million, making it the most expensive signing in the club’s history. Ramos, 22, arrived as the first major signing under new manager‑coach Ruben Amorim and is expected to lead the attack in the upcoming Serie A season.

Ramos recently scored the winning header for Portugal against Croatia at the World Cup, an assist coming from teammate Rafael Leão. Despite the on‑field partnership, Leão is expected to leave Milan in the summer, meaning the duo will not reunite at club level. The move aims to strengthen Milan’s frontline after a period of striker scarcity and to help the team regain a top‑four Serie A position.

The Portuguese international previously spent three seasons at PSG, recording 45 goals in 131 appearances, often as a substitute. His versatility allows him to play as a central striker, second striker or attacking midfielder in Amorim’s preferred 3‑4‑2‑1 formation. Milan’s sporting director highlighted the transfer as a statement of intent and a key component of the club’s new tactical project.
