Gonda police arrest criminal after encounter

Police and Special Operations Group (SOG) teams in the Gonda district of Uttar Pradesh apprehended a criminal following an encounter on Wednesday night. The suspect, identified as Tilakram, also known as Jhindu, sustained a gunshot wound to his right leg during the exchange of fire after he allegedly opened fire on the police team near Birhipur Bagh.

Authorities recovered stolen jewelry, 17,100 rupees in cash, a 12-bore pistol, ammunition, and an unregistered motorcycle from the suspect. According to Additional Superintendent of Police Ajit Kumar Rajak, the arrest clarifies several major robbery and theft cases in the Chhapaiya, Khodare, Kotwali Dehat, and Parsarpur areas.

Tilakram has a significant criminal record, with over 25 cases involving theft, robbery, and the Gangster Act registered against him in the Gonda and Basti districts. He has been referred to a district hospital for treatment and faces charges under the BNS and the Arms Act.
