Gong Cha signs 50‑unit franchise agreement to expand in Texas
Gong Cha, the global bubble‑tea chain, has signed a 50‑unit exclusive area development deal with Houston‑based Bakers Acres & Cattle Company (BACC). The agreement covers Austin, Houston, San Antonio and Dallas and will be executed over the next seven years, marking the largest direct franchising deal in the brand’s history.
The deal follows Gong Cha’s recent acquisition of master franchise rights for 170 U.S. stores, including Texas, and is part of a broader U.S. expansion plan that targets more than 500 stores in the Americas by 2028. Geoff Henry, president of Gong Cha Americas, said franchisees are drawn to the brand’s operational simplicity, strong consumer demand and scalable model. BACC, known for franchising Nothing Bundt Cakes since 2015, will lead the multi‑unit rollout.
Gong Cha currently operates about 240 U.S. locations with system sales of roughly $94 million, a 5.6 % increase year‑over‑year, and expects continued growth across high‑potential Texas markets.
