Gongju Education Office reports 74% support for middle school relocation

The Gongju Education Office announced that 74% of surveyed parents support the plan to integrate and relocate Gongju Middle School and Gongju Girls' Middle School to the Wolsong district. The survey, conducted between August 25 and September 14, included 1,635 responses from 1,941 households. Notably, the approval rate among parents in the Gangbuk area reached 87%.

The office cited several reasons for the necessity of the relocation, including imbalances in educational conditions, changes in residential patterns due to apartment development, commuting difficulties caused by traffic congestion, and the aging of existing school facilities.

Moving forward, the office plans to form a regional consultative body involving parents, local residents, and education officials to discuss specific tasks and implementation directions, focusing on student placement and commuting safety.
