Gonzaga basketball players receive eligibility boosts via court rulings
Gonzaga University basketball players have received significant legal developments regarding their eligibility for the upcoming season. A California judge granted an injunction in the Glancey v. NCAA case, which maintains the eligibility of plaintiffs Xaivian Lee and Ines Bettencourt through the end of the 2026-27 season. While the NCAA is expected to appeal and seek a stay, the ruling allows Lee to participate in upcoming games, including the exhibition against Arkansas and the season opener against Purdue.
Separately, Nathan De Sousa, a 23-year-old point guard from France, has been highlighted in a new predictive model by Evan Miyakawa. De Sousa is projected to be the 16th most impactful incoming player in college basketball, making him the only Gonzaga player included in the top rankings. The model, which accounts for age and level of competition, places De Sousa ahead of several highly-rated five-star recruits.
