Gonzalo Crettas thanks Dick Schreuder after signing with NEC
Argentine goalkeeper Gonzalo Crettas confirmed his move to Dutch Eredivisie side NEC Nijmegen, citing the decisive influence of coach Dick Schreuder. Crettas said he had "no doubt" when Schreuder called, describing the transfer as the fastest decision of his career and expressing gratitude for the coach’s trust.
He noted the competition he faced at NEC, first from Robin Roefs and later from former Dutch international Jasper Cillessen, but emphasized that strong rivalry improves the team. Crettas also highlighted the club’s upcoming European challenge, with NEC set to face Olympiakos in the Champions League qualifying round, calling the prospect a lifelong dream.
The goalkeeper reflected on his previous stint at Castellón in Spain, where he first worked with Schreuder, and praised the coach’s playing style and leadership, stating he feels “eternally grateful” for the opportunity to develop under him at NEC.
