Gonzalo Petit joins Cádiz CF on loan from Real Betis

Gonzalo Petit, a 19-year-old Uruguayan striker, has joined Cádiz CF on loan from Real Betis for the 2026/27 season. The agreement includes no purchase option, and the player is expected to return to Betis at the end of the campaign.

Before this move, Petit spent time on loan at Mirandés and Granada, scoring a total of eight goals in the Spanish second division. Real Betis had initially explored permanent transfer options to foreign clubs, including interest from Olympique Lyonnais and FC Midtjylland, to free up non-EU player slots and recoup investment. However, the loan to Cádiz was finalized as the preferred alternative.

For Cádiz, Petit’s arrival utilizes one of the club's 25 available professional roster spots. Because he is being registered as a first-team player rather than a reserve player, his inclusion means the club must offload another player if they wish to make further professional signings before the transfer window closes.
