Callaway Golf severs ties with Good Good Golf over controversial ad
Callaway Golf has severed its partnership with content creator Good Good Golf following intense backlash over a controversial advertisement. The video, intended to promote a co-branded driver, depicted Good Good co-founder Garrett Clark forcefully shoving female golfer Alexis Miestowski to the ground.
In response to the outcry regarding the depiction of violence against women, Callaway announced it would donate $1 million to organizations supporting survivors and preventing domestic violence. The company also admitted its internal content review process was insufficient.
The fallout has extended across the golf industry. Good Good has withdrawn as the title sponsor for an upcoming PGA Tour event in Austin, Texas. Additionally, Golf Channel has canceled the planned reboot of its reality series, ‘Big Break x Good Good’. Major retailers, including Dick’s Sporting Goods and Golf Galaxy, have also pulled Good Good merchandise from their shelves.
