Goodluck Jonathan marks Bayelsa State anniversary and meets APC candidates

Former President Goodluck Jonathan marked the 30th anniversary of the creation of Bayelsa State by expressing gratitude to the late General Sani Abacha. Speaking in Yenagoa, Jonathan noted that the state remains grateful to Abacha for establishing Bayelsa as a homogenous state in 1996. Governor Douye Diri also paid tribute to the late Head of State, stating that the creation of the state freed the Ijaw people from oppression.

In a separate engagement in Yenagoa, Jonathan met with a delegation from the All Progressives Congress (APC) regarding the 2027 elections. The delegation, which included former Deputy Governor Rear Admiral Gboribiogha John Jonah and NDDC Managing Director Samuel Ogbuku, presented the party's candidates for the Bayelsa East Senatorial District. Jonathan commended the candidates for their experience and capacity, urging them to use politics as a tool for societal improvement and to maintain peace and unity within the state.
