The auction also saw competition from other firms. AI training company Mercor placed a $7.5 million bid, while the startup Micro1 submitted a late $12.5 million offer after the deadline. A judge is expected to rule on the sale on September 9, 2026.

Spirit Airlines ceased all flight operations on May 2, 2026, following its second bankruptcy. The airline's collapse has left thousands of workers unemployed and highlighted the growing value of specialized corporate data in the AI industry.
