Google addresses Android Auto bugs and Pixel 11 navigation issues

Google is addressing several software issues affecting Android Auto users. A fix is being rolled out to resolve a bug where music would play automatically upon starting a vehicle, even if the user had previously disabled the auto-play setting. The update also aims to improve app selection by preventing the system from choosing apps that have not been used recently. Additionally, for users who frequently pause music immediately after it starts, the system will now provide a one-tap prompt to disable auto-play.

Separately, Google is investigating reports from Pixel 11 owners regarding Google Maps malfunctions within Android Auto. Users have reported that navigation maps may flicker, display black checkered patterns, freeze, or lag significantly. These issues appear to persist across both wired and wireless connections, and standard troubleshooting steps such as clearing app data or changing cables have not resolved the problem. Google has confirmed that the issue has been escalated to the relevant technical team for further investigation.
