Google releases Android 17 QPR2 Beta 7.1 to fix Pixel UI freezes

Google has released Android 17 QPR2 Beta 7.1 for compatible Pixel devices to address critical stability issues. This unplanned intermediate update focuses on fixing severe user interface (UI) stuttering and multi-second system freezes, specifically identified under Issue #571186734.

Prior to this release, users reported significant animation bugs on the Pixel 10 series, including glitches when returning to the home screen or using the app drawer. The new beta aims to restore the smooth performance expected of the Pixel line by addressing rendering and UI thread logic errors.

While the update primarily targets stability, it also notes a known issue for Pixel 11 Pro Fold users, who may need to re-enroll Face Unlock for it to function correctly. The update is available via the Android Beta Program and as OTA images.
