Netflix reinstates free trial as Google adds AI ad labels

Netflix has begun offering free trial periods again to new subscribers, the first such promotion in about six years. The trials range from one to four weeks depending on the market, require a payment method at sign‑up and automatically convert to a paid subscription if not cancelled. At the same time the company is evaluating the addition of live TV channels and the possibility of selling subscriptions to other streaming services through its app, steps aimed at boosting user engagement after its U.S. TV share fell to a record low.

Google announced that ads generated with generative artificial intelligence will now carry a clear AI label on its Search, YouTube and Discover platforms. The label appears in the “How this ad was made” section of the My Ads Center; ads created with Google’s own AI tools are tagged automatically, while advertisers using other AI systems must declare the usage during upload. The move is intended to increase transparency as AI‑generated content becomes more common in online advertising.
