Google adds AI performance metrics to Search Console as rivals see user shift
Google has introduced dedicated Generative AI performance reports in Search Console, with separate tabs for Search and Discover. The reports display impressions of a site inside AI-generated answer boxes, broken down by page, country, device and date, giving webmasters data that was previously only visible within the main performance report. The feature is currently being rolled out to a subset of sites.
Following Google’s AI‑first push, DuckDuckGo reported a 30% increase in app installs in the United States. The privacy‑focused search engine is attracting users who want the option to disable AI answers, and the company provides guides for setting DuckDuckGo as the default search engine on major mobile browsers. The surge highlights a modest shift in user behavior amid Google’s new AI search metrics.
