Google adds Ask Maps tool to Business Profiles and offers free GBP masterclass
Google has introduced a new feature called “Ask Maps” that lets users ask detailed, conversational questions about local businesses and receive answers that include a personalized map. To appear in Ask Maps responses, a business must keep its Google Business Profile information – such as categories, hours, attributes, reviews, images and menus – up to date and complete. Google has not disclosed how it selects which businesses are featured or any monetisation plans for the feature.
Map Labs is offering a free masterclass that teaches businesses how to optimise their Google Business Profile (GBP). The training covers the most impactful factors for local search visibility, including correct category selection, attribute completion, accurate service listings, photo and post usage, review management and analytics that focus on calls, direction requests and bookings rather than rankings alone. The goal is to convert the profile into a high‑performing marketing asset that drives more customers from Google and Apple Maps.
