Google enables users to disable visible watermarks in Gemini AI content
Google has introduced a new feature allowing users to toggle off visible watermarks on content generated by its Gemini AI tools. This update applies to images, videos, and audio files produced by models such as Nano Banana, Omni, and Lyria.
While the visible branding can be disabled via the “Media Watermark” setting, Google is maintaining digital transparency through invisible identification methods. The company will continue to embed SynthID digital watermarks and C2PA metadata into the files. These imperceptible signals allow for the identification of AI-generated content even if the file is cropped, resized, or compressed.
Josh Woodward, Vice President at Google, noted that the change responds to user requests for cleaner outputs in professional workflows. However, the ability to remove visible watermarks will be restricted in certain regions where local laws mandate the clear disclosure of synthetic media.
