Google and Microsoft release major updates for Chrome and Edge
Google has released Chrome version 154 for Windows, Mac, and Linux, addressing 108 security vulnerabilities. This update includes 11 critical and 25 high-risk fixes, targeting issues such as buffer overflows in ANGLE and WebGL libraries, GPU component write-out-of-bounds errors, and use-after-free vulnerabilities in modules like ServiceWorker and AdFilter. While no active exploits have been reported, the scale of the patches makes the update a technical priority. Google has also distributed $18,000 in rewards to external researchers who identified 32 of these flaws.
Simultaneously, Microsoft has deployed Edge version 154. This update introduces the ability for users on Windows and macOS to sign in to the browser using a Google account. Additionally, the update features improved profile management, including an automatic cleanup of incomplete profiles during setup, and enhanced credential management that allows users to view passwords and add personal notes directly from the address bar's key icon.
