Google and Mozilla release major security updates for Chrome and Firefox
Google has released Chrome 156, a significant security update that addresses 353 vulnerabilities. This release includes six high-severity flaws involving memory corruption and use-after-free vulnerabilities in components such as Skia, CSS, Paint, and WebRTC. While there are no reports of these vulnerabilities being exploited in the wild, the update is recommended for Windows, Mac, and Linux users.
Mozilla has also issued a security and correction update for Firefox 158.0.1. This update addresses several security vulnerabilities, including two classified as high risk. Additionally, Mozilla responded to the compromise of private keys for eight intermediate certificates from the certificate authority eMudhra by updating its OneCRL blocklist. The update also resolves various functional bugs related to text selection, PDF saving on Windows, and VPN connectivity.
