Tech companies roll out updates for WhatsApp, Google Messages, and Apple Pay

Major technology providers are rolling out interface updates and new features across mobile messaging and payment platforms.

WhatsApp is testing several navigation changes, including a dedicated search button for iPhone users to access chats, groups, and channels more quickly. For Android, beta versions suggest a new pill-shaped navigation bar that could include a dedicated tab for Meta AI.

Google is expanding its Messages app capabilities through the RCS standard. Recent beta findings indicate the development of native video calling within the app, potentially reducing reliance on Google Meet. Additionally, Google is testing an official interactive chat to educate users on RCS benefits like high-quality media sharing and real-time location.

On the hardware and OS side, Apple is redesigning the Apple Pay interface for iOS, allowing users to swipe between cards and view more detailed information like balances and rewards during checkout. Meanwhile, Google is working on Pixel HiLight features for the Pixel 11 Pro, which may include expanded color options and support for message notification animations.
