Google Android 17 focuses on security and device compatibility
Android 17, codenamed ‘Cinnamon Bun’ and identified as API level 37, is shifting the mobile ecosystem's focus toward privacy, security, and performance over aesthetic changes. The update aims to improve stability and ensure applications function seamlessly across various form factors, including smartphones, tablets, foldable devices, watches, cars, and televisions.
As the rollout begins, device compatibility remains a primary concern. The update's availability depends on manufacturer support policies. Older models from major brands may not receive the update, including the Google Pixel 5 and earlier, Samsung Galaxy S22 and S21 series, and certain Xiaomi 12 series devices. While these older devices will remain functional for basic tasks, they will not support the latest software features.
