Android Auto users report Google Maps speedometer and sign alerts disappearing
Users of Android Auto are reporting a significant software glitch affecting Google Maps navigation features. A recent rollout of a speedometer and speed-limit indicators has reportedly disappeared for many drivers, leading to concerns regarding speeding fines and road awareness.
In addition to the missing speedometer, users have noted that critical visual cues, such as traffic light markers and stop signs, are failing to render on the interface. The issue appears to coincide with recent interface updates and visual refinements to the Android Auto ecosystem. Some reports suggest the problem may stem from a cache conflict or data desynchronization between Google Maps and vehicle system services.
While the disappearance of these features has caused friction for motorists, Google has not yet issued an official technical advisory or a specific timeline for a corrective patch. Amidst these navigation issues, code inspections also suggest Google is preparing new shortcuts for Android Auto, including quick access to battery saver and theme settings.
