Google Android Auto users report navigation and connectivity issues

Users upgrading to the Google Pixel 11 are reporting a loss of the immersive navigation feature in Google Maps when using Android Auto. Because the rollout of this major update is managed via server-side switches tied to specific device IDs, new hardware users appear to be placed back into the rollout queue, effectively downgrading their experience to an older version of Google Maps.

In a separate development, Google has released Android Auto version 17.4 to address several connectivity issues. This update aims to fix connection drops affecting Google Pixel and Samsung smartphones, as well as specific compatibility issues between the Pixel 10 and Volkswagen Group vehicle systems. Additionally, the update resolves a bug that prevented Spotify from launching on certain Android Auto displays.

Despite these fixes, some users have reported a recurring issue where Google Maps fails to display real-time traffic data on Android Auto, though this appears to be a display error rather than a total loss of data.
