Google rolls out major Android and AI ecosystem updates

Google is rolling out a series of updates across its Android ecosystem, focusing on AI integration and improved usability.

Android Auto version 17.6 introduces a new green icon and a quick settings panel, including a Do Not Disturb mode, to minimize driver distraction. Future updates are expected to bring Gemini AI integration and video playback capabilities for parked vehicles.

Google Photos is integrating with the Gemini Spark platform, allowing users to manage, search, and edit images using complex voice and text commands. This includes automated album curation and duplicate removal.

Other notable software improvements include the expansion of Quick Share's compatibility with Apple's AirDrop standard to older Pixel devices, such as the Pixel 7 and 8. Android is also introducing new features like 'Motion Assist' to reduce motion sickness in passengers, 'Find Hub' integration with Gemini to remember object locations, and 'Guided Vision' within Gemini Live to assist visually impaired users.

Additionally, Google is working on safety features to prevent the accidental sharing of sensitive images through the Android Photo Picker and testing a pause function for downloads in the Google Play Store.
