Google announces new Android features including Gemini-powered item tracking

Google has announced the September Android Drop, introducing several new features designed to enhance mobile user experience through artificial intelligence and sensor integration.

One major update is the ‘Remembered’ feature within the Find Hub. Utilizing Gemini AI, this tool allows users to ask the assistant to remember the location of items that do not have dedicated trackers, such as passports or keys. Users can provide verbal descriptions or photos to store these locations, which can later be retrieved via a ‘remembered items’ tab.

Additionally, Google is introducing ‘Motion Assist’ to address motion sickness. Similar to existing solutions on other platforms, this feature uses device sensors to provide visual cues that sync with a vehicle's movement, helping to reduce the sensory mismatch that causes nausea while using a mobile device in a moving car. These updates are expected to be compatible with Android 16 and newer in supported regions.
