Google Assistant: How to configure ‘Ok Google’ on Android
Users can activate the Google Assistant on Android devices using the ‘Ok Google’ or ‘Hey Google’ voice commands. To begin the setup, users should ensure the Google app is updated via the Google Play Store.
The configuration process involves opening the Google app, selecting the profile icon, navigating to Settings, and then entering the Google Assistant menu. Within this menu, users must access the ‘Voice Match’ section to enable voice activation.
During initial setup, the system requires the user to repeat the activation phrase several times. This voice training allows the device to recognize the specific tone and intonation of the owner, which improves accuracy and helps prevent accidental activations by other individuals. Once configured, the assistant can be used hands-free to perform tasks such as checking the weather, playing music, setting alarms, or controlling smart home devices.
