Google Calendar introduces option to disable RSVP email notifications
Google is rolling out an update to Google Calendar that allows event organizers to disable email notifications for guest responses. This new setting, titled ‘Get an email when guests respond’, aims to reduce inbox clutter caused by repetitive RSVP emails and automatic out-of-office replies.
By default, the setting is active. When disabled, guests using Google Calendar will not send an email notification, though their status (accepted, declined, or maybe) will still be visible within the event details. However, guests using third-party clients, such as Microsoft Outlook, will not have their response status visible on the event if this option is turned off.
For recurring events, the setting applies to the entire series rather than individual appointments. The update is also available to delegates who manage calendars on behalf of others.
