Google CEO Sundar Pichai forecasts Gemini 5 performance gains
Alphabet and Google CEO Sundar Pichai stated that internal research indicates the upcoming Gemini 5 model will significantly outperform the recently released Gemini 4 Argon. Pichai linked this confidence to an increased investment in computing infrastructure, noting that long-term revenue contracts provide the financial justification for accelerating spending on compute capacity.
Gemini 4 Argon, which became generally available in mid-October 2026, was designed for complex tasks in software engineering, cybersecurity, and finance. During its first 72 hours, the model processed approximately 25 trillion tokens, triple the volume handled by Gemini 3.0 in a similar timeframe. Users have also noted the model's ability to handle complex, multi-step tasks, such as generating functional web applications for 3D modeling.
