Google Chrome 152 released with 327 security fixes

Google has released Chrome 152 for Windows, macOS, and Linux, addressing 327 security fixes. The update includes 10 critical vulnerabilities, many of which are use-after-free flaws affecting components such as ANGLE, Aura, Chromecast, Views, Safe Browsing, and Mobile components.

Of particular concern is a critical vulnerability in the ANGLE graphics translation layer (CVE-2026-79282), which could allow a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code outside the browser sandbox via a crafted HTML page. Another significant flaw (CVE-2026-78899) was identified in the V8 JavaScript engine, which could allow code execution within the browser sandbox.

Beyond security, Chrome 152 introduces several technical enhancements. These include the introduction of a new 'googlechrome://' URI scheme, the implementation of post-quantum cryptography algorithms for the Client Update Protocol (CUP), and the new 'CPU Performance API' to help web applications optimize user experiences based on device hardware. Additionally, Google is continuing its transition away from Manifest V2 extensions, with such add-ons being removed from the Chrome Web Store by August 31.
