Google Chrome 157 stable version released with new features

Google has released the stable version of Chrome 157, introducing several significant updates for both users and web developers. A major UI enhancement is the official support for vertical tabs, which can be activated by right-clicking a tab. This feature is designed to work effectively alongside tab grouping and iconization to optimize screen space.

For Android users, the update introduces the Language Detector API. This allows for on-device language detection using built-in machine learning models, enabling privacy-focused features like automatic translation suggestions even in offline environments.

Web developers will see several new CSS capabilities. These include the corner property, which allows for the simultaneous setting of corner radius and shape in a single declaration. Additionally, the text-overflow property now supports custom strings instead of being limited to ellipses, and the text-decoration-inset property allows for precise control over the length and positioning of underlines and strikethroughs. Other technical updates include improvements to the Sanitizer API, Service Worker progress events, and the Web Bluetooth API.
