Google Chrome adds cross-device state saving and Gemini AI study tools
Google is introducing new features to the Chrome browser aimed at improving research and study workflows. A key update to the cross-device tab switching capability allows users to preserve the exact state of a tab when sending it between a mobile device and a computer. This includes maintaining the specific scroll position and preserving any partially filled-in forms.
Additionally, the Gemini AI integration within Chrome is expanding its media analysis capabilities. The AI can now analyze, summarize, and identify key takeaways from various types of media, including podcasts and video files hosted outside of YouTube. Gemini can also generate interactive quizzes based on the content of an open tab, such as research papers, Google Docs, or YouTube videos, to help users test their understanding of a subject.
These new Gemini-focused features are currently rolling out in English to desktop users in the United States and India, with plans to expand to more regions and mobile devices in the coming months.
