Google Chrome and GIMP face critical security vulnerabilities

The German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) has issued an urgent warning regarding critical security vulnerabilities in Google Chrome and the open-source image editor GIMP.

In Google Chrome, attackers could potentially bypass security measures to execute malicious code or cause system crashes by tricking users into visiting manipulated websites or opening compromised files. Similarly, in GIMP, opening maliciously prepared image files could allow attackers to execute unauthorized code.

Both Google and the GIMP developers have released patches to address these risks. Users are advised to update Chrome to versions 151.0.7922.173 or 151.0.7922.174, depending on their operating system, and to update GIMP to version 3.2.4 immediately.
