Google Chrome integrates Gemini AI and cuts scroll jank for smoother browsing

Google has embedded its Gemini artificial‑intelligence system directly into the Chrome browser. The assistant can analyse page content, summarise information, and perform tasks such as extracting data from maps, YouTube and Google Workspace. Users can invoke Gemini by typing @gemini in the address bar, using the “Ask Gemini” button, or via keyboard shortcuts. The feature is available on Windows, macOS, Android and iOS, with mobile versions able to read any on‑screen element.

In a separate update, Chrome’s development team has reduced the long‑standing “scroll jank” problem on Android devices by about 48 % compared with 2023 levels. By ensuring each frame is rendered within the 16.7 ms window required for a 60 Hz display, the browser now delivers steadier scrolling for activities such as reading articles, browsing social media, or shopping online.
