Google Chrome releases security update to patch 37 vulnerabilities

Google has released a major security update for the desktop versions of its Chrome browser, addressing 37 vulnerabilities. The update affects Windows, macOS, and Linux users, bringing the browser to version 155.0.8059.79/.80.

Among the patched flaws, seven are classified as ‘critical,’ primarily involving ‘use-after-free’ vulnerabilities. These issues, found in components such as the PDF viewer, network processing, the ANGLE graphics library, and SVG elements, could potentially allow third parties to execute malicious code by accessing freed memory. Additionally, 29 vulnerabilities are rated as high risk, and one is classified as medium risk. These include flaws in the V8 JavaScript engine, WebRTC, and internal password management.

Google stated there is currently no evidence that these vulnerabilities have been actively exploited in the wild. The company is withholding specific technical details regarding the flaws to prevent attackers from exploiting users who have not yet updated their software. Users are encouraged to update via the ‘About Google Chrome’ menu to ensure their systems are protected.
