Google Chrome sends typed text in real time, how to disable tracking

Google Chrome’s predictive search feature transmits each character you type, your device’s IP address and stored search‑cookie data to Google’s servers before you press Enter. When the “Improve search suggestions” option is enabled, the browser may also send the URL of the page you are viewing to generate related recommendations.

The data collection can be stopped by turning off the suggestion feature: on computers via Settings → You and Google → Google Services, and on Android, iPhone or iPad via the Chrome app’s Settings → Google Services. Disabling the option halts real‑time transmission of typed text, though previously gathered data may remain stored for up to a year unless you clear your browsing history.

Google’s internal filters attempt to block sensitive information such as passwords or local file paths, but the primary privacy risk remains the continuous sharing of keystrokes and browsing context.
