BNP Paribas partners with Google Cloud for five-year AI expansion
BNP Paribas has entered into a five-year strategic partnership with Google Cloud to accelerate its transition toward agentic AI. The agreement provides the French bank with access to Google’s cloud infrastructure and Gemini models, including Gemini Enterprise, to develop intelligent agents for tasks such as corporate credit memos, sales, trading, and research.
Despite the expansion, BNP Paribas will maintain a multi-cloud and multi-model approach to ensure regulatory compliance and operational flexibility. The bank intends to keep certain highly sensitive data, such as medical information from its insurance operations, on its own on-premise infrastructure. It also plans to continue its partnership with French AI firm Mistral and utilize open-source models for specific applications.
Separately, Google.org has announced $30 million in funding for 15 organizations to develop AI-powered solutions for public sector challenges, including healthcare, emergency response, and infrastructure. In the enterprise sector, Accenture has launched the Gemini Enterprise Business Group, deploying 1,000 engineers to help clients implement Google’s Gemini platform. Meanwhile, industry analysts note a significant rise in the integration of task-specific AI agents within enterprise applications, prompting new challenges for endpoint management and governance.
