Google Cloud announces new Guadalajara hub and AI expansion in Mexico
At the Google Cloud Summit Mexico 2026, Google Cloud announced the opening of a new technology hub in Guadalajara and the deployment of Forward-Deployed Engineers to support local companies. The company is focusing on accelerating the adoption of AI agents through its Gemini Enterprise platform, which allows systems to execute tasks and participate in corporate processes alongside human workers.
A study conducted by IDC and Provokers for Google Cloud reveals that 40% of Mexican companies have already adopted AI agents, while 13% are currently scaling such projects. However, the report highlights a security concern known as ‘Shadow AI,’ noting that 44% of professionals use unauthorized personal AI tools, which may pose risks to corporate information protection.
Google Cloud has established a presence in Mexico with offices in Mexico City and Monterrey, maintaining partnerships with 20 universities to train over 28,000 students. The company has executed more than 2,400 projects in the country and reported that Grupo Bafar successfully reduced a contractual process from 140 minutes to 17 minutes using Gemini Enterprise.
