Google Cloud pushes Portugal into the era of agentic enterprises with new AI tools
Google Cloud held its AI Live event in Lisbon, presenting a vision of the “agentic enterprise” where generative AI systems reason, collaborate and act autonomously to optimise complex business processes. The company showcased new Workspace features, including Gemini 3.5 Live Translate for real‑time multilingual meetings, Slides‑to‑Vids with native Portuguese AI‑generated voice, high‑quality AI avatars and forthcoming emotion‑steering capabilities.
Portuguese organisations demonstrated concrete use cases. Sonae MC revealed a next‑generation Security Operations Centre powered by Google SecOps and Gemini AI, capable of restoring critical operations in under 20 hours after a disaster. NOS highlighted its use of Google Kubernetes Engine and Apigee to safely process more than one billion API transactions per month, achieving a 70 % automation rate in customer interactions through its Scale AI initiative and cutting service‑resolution times by 25 %. Caixa Geral de Depósitos described how Google Cloud’s data and AI tools are accelerating its digital transformation and reshaping customer experiences.
The event also announced talent‑development programmes: the “Shaping Tomorrow” partnership with Católica‑Lisbon SBE and Kellogg School to immerse Portuguese executives in Silicon‑Valley innovation, the “Impulso AI” initiative delivering in‑person AI training to all districts and reaching over 2 000 professionals, and a $1 million grant to train more than 7 000 university students in advanced AI skills. Country Manager Sofia Marta emphasised that “Portuguese organisations are no longer just experimenting with AI; they are building with it at unprecedented scale.”
