Google data center project in Kronstorf faces legal dispute

A legal dispute has emerged regarding the planned Google mega-data center in Kronstorf, Austria. The District Commission of Linz-Land (Bezirkshauptmannschaft Linz-Land) has dismissed a position paper from a representative group of affected residents, labeling it an ‘anonymous submission.’

Local authorities argued that because the document did not name specific natural or legal persons, it could not be considered a formal exercise of party rights. Consequently, the commission stated that the submission would remain unconsidered. In response, the affected parties' representatives asserted that the document is a legally and scientifically grounded presentation of potential risks to the population within a 7-kilometer radius. They contend that the authorities are using procedural technicalities to bypass substantive criticism of the large-scale project.
