Google has introduced a system service called ‘Android Pulse’ that is appearing on millions of Android devices. While the app lacks a user interface and has caused some confusion due to its cryptic description in the Google Play Store, Google has confirmed it is a harmless background service.

Android Pulse is designed to monitor system performance by tracking whether specific apps or components are consuming unusual amounts of battery, memory, or processing power. This allows the system to respond more efficiently to resource-heavy applications. The service has existed in various versions since March 2024 and has surpassed 10 million downloads. It appears in system settings under the name ‘Pulse’ accompanied by a green heartbeat icon.
