Google Deploys New Play System Update for Samsung Galaxy Phones

Google has begun rolling out a lightweight Google Play System update for Samsung Galaxy smartphones and tablets. The patch is about 12 MB, though its size varies between 167 KB and 18 MB depending on the device. It does not advance the main system version timestamp, which remains set to July 1 2026, indicating the update focuses on backend security fixes rather than new features. The rollout is phased and excludes devices running the One UI 9.0 beta on the Galaxy S26 series. Samsung is simultaneously issuing its own August security patch that addresses roughly 50 hardware‑related vulnerabilities. Users are advised to install the Google Play System update via Settings → Security and privacy → Updates → Google Play System update.
