Google expands Gemini AI with voice support and automation features

Google is expanding the capabilities of its Gemini AI ecosystem through several new features and updates. The company has launched Gemini 3.8 Live on mobile devices, which supports conversational voice interactions across 97 languages. This update allows for continuous, hands-free verbal exchanges without the need for repeated manual prompts.

In terms of productivity, Gemini Notebook (formerly NotebookLM) has evolved into a broader workspace featuring notebook code execution and cross-ecosystem syncing. Additionally, Google is reportedly developing a feature internally named ‘Hedwig’ or ‘Call for me’ within its Phone app. This tool aims to use Gemini to autonomously manage customer service calls, interacting with automated IVR menus to reduce wait times for users.

Regarding data portability, users have noted that migrating chat history from ChatGPT to Gemini is a straightforward process involving the export of a ZIP file and subsequent import into Gemini’s memory settings, though the reverse process is reported to be significantly more difficult.
