Google develops Overnight backup feature for Google Photos

Cloud storage users frequently encounter incomplete backups due to unstable internet connections, insufficient storage, outdated applications, or file conflicts. To ensure data security, users are advised to check synchronization logs within services like Google Drive, OneDrive, or Dropbox and compare local file counts and timestamps with those stored in the cloud.

To address structural issues where Android's background limitations and Doze mode interrupt uploads, Google is reportedly developing a feature called ‘Overnight backup’ for Google Photos. Discovered via an APK teardown, this function aims to bypass background restrictions by keeping the app in the foreground. For the feature to work, users would need to keep the app open without switching to other applications, keep the device connected to a charger, and leave the screen unlocked, though the app will automatically dim the screen to prevent disturbance.
