Google Discontinues Nest Mini and Nest Audio Smart Speakers

Google has announced the end of production for its Nest Mini and Nest Audio smart speakers, ending a product line that began with the original Google Home Mini in 2017. The move is part of a broader strategy to integrate the company's Gemini artificial‑intelligence system into newer devices, prioritising more powerful hardware for AI features.

Existing Nest Mini and Nest Audio units will continue to receive software updates, security patches and customer support, according to a Google spokesperson. The replacement Nest Hub (2nd generation) is priced at about USD 100, roughly double the original Nest Mini’s launch price of USD 50, indicating a shift toward higher‑priced, AI‑ready hardware.

The decision reflects Google’s focus on consolidating its smart‑home portfolio around AI‑enabled products while phasing out older, lower‑cost models.
