Google Docs lacks native dark mode on web version

While Google Docs has integrated various AI-powered content creation tools via Gemini, the web version of the application still lacks a native dark mode. This feature has been available on mobile platforms, including Android and iOS, since 2020, allowing users to select between dark, light, or system default themes through the app settings.

Because the web interface lacks this official setting, users must rely on workarounds to reduce eye strain during long sessions. These methods include using browser extensions or utilizing experimental features within the Google Chrome browser.
