Google releases November 2026 Android security patches

Google has released its November 2026 Android Security Bulletin, addressing 216 vulnerabilities, including 23 classified as critical. The update targets several components, most notably the Framework and System components.

Among the most severe issues is CVE-2026-58868, a framework vulnerability that allows remote code execution without user interaction or additional privileges. Two other critical remote code execution flaws, CVE-2026-58876 and CVE-2026-58936, affect the System component. These vulnerabilities impact Android versions 14, 15, 16, 16-QPR2, and 17.

Data from Android Studio indicates a significant security gap in the ecosystem: approximately 43.6 percent of active Android devices run Android 13 or older and no longer receive regular security patches. While Android 16 is currently the most widely used version at 25.4 percent, the latest Android 17 has only reached 1 percent of active devices since its release in June.
