Google expands AI creative tools with Google Photos updates and Google Pics

Google is expanding its AI-driven creative capabilities through updates to Google Photos and the introduction of Google Pics.

Google Photos is rolling out five new features, including 'Moods' for nostalgic film-style editing, an upgraded markup tool with a redaction pen, and 15 new 'Remix' templates for themed creations. The 'Wardrobe' feature, which automatically catalogues clothing for virtual styling, is available in the United States, India, and Brazil, though it has not yet launched in Canada. Additionally, 'Photos in Gemini Spark' allows users to select and edit portraits via text prompts, a feature currently limited to eligible Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers in the United States.

Complementing these updates, Google has launched Google Pics, a web application integrated into Google Drive Workspace. Utilizing the Nano Banana AI image generation model, Google Pics allows users to create new images or edit existing ones using text prompts. The tool functions as both a graphic design platform and an image editor, offering features similar to Canva or Photoshop. It is available to subscribers of Google AI Pro and Google AI Ultra plans.
