Google expands Gemini AI with new third-party app integrations
Google has expanded its Gemini AI assistant by integrating it with 14 different applications, allowing the assistant to perform tasks within third-party services such as retouching photos in Adobe Photoshop, creating training plans, or monitoring business opportunities via monday.com.
However, the rollout faces significant geographic and functional limitations. Ten of the fourteen new integrations are restricted to the United States, while the Zoho service is limited to India. Outside of the US, only Adobe, monday.com, and Wispr AI are available, and even these are restricted to English-speaking users over the age of 18.
Privacy concerns have also been raised regarding data handling. To use these integrations, users must enable activity storage, meaning data retrieved by Gemini is saved to the user's activity history for service improvement, which may include human review. Furthermore, disconnecting an app does not automatically delete the data shared between Gemini and the third-party service; users must manually delete records on both sides to ensure complete removal.
