Google launches Gemini 3. 8 Flash and specialized Cyber model

Google has launched Gemini 3. 8 Flash, a new AI model optimized for software engineering, multi-step reasoning, and autonomous agentic workflows. The model is designed to ‘work harder’ by performing additional reasoning steps and iterative tool calls to solve complex problems. In the DeepSWE v1.1 benchmark, it achieved a 73.7% success rate, outperforming several larger frontier models.

Alongside the standard model, Google introduced Gemini 3. 8 Flash Cyber, a specialized version focused on cybersecurity. This variant is designed to autonomously discover vulnerabilities and generate code patches. According to Google, the Cyber version produced 2.6 times more correct patches than leading commercial models. Due to its advanced capabilities, access to the Cyber model is restricted to vetted security professionals, government agencies, and critical infrastructure operators through the Fairwind Program.

Gemini 3. 8 Flash is available to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers, as well as through Google AI Studio, Android Studio, and the Gemini API. The introductory pricing is set at $0.75 per million input tokens and $3.75 per million output tokens, though Google noted that higher reasoning effort levels may increase token consumption per task.
